I was privileged to watch a couple of Collared Doves "courting" and then raise a pair of young close to my bedroom window. There is an old television ariel strapped with tape to a roof support close to my bedroom window, approximately 600mm from the window itself. I have a chest of drawers close to the window which has a pot plants on it growing down the back which creates a useful bit of foliage, and a venetian blind covering the window.
The result was that I could manage to get a camera in place without disturbing them too much (they became used to it if a little nervous) and take some pictures. The show above provides a selection.
The song is by Buddy Holly - "Words Of Love" from the album Buddy Holly which I think fits quite well.
The young ones are flitting around happily doing what young animals do - explore and be curious - they even sat on the roof next door and were peering in at me but I did not have the camera handy to take the picture.
I hope I continue to see them and that the birds continue to use the nest.
