I live on the isle of Sheppey in Kent, UK. The Island can be found on the map of the South East where the Thames and Medway Estuaries join and the Swale divides the island from the mainland.
The Swale and the tidal creek at Queenborough gives a casual, timeless air to the island. Once the Navy dominated the island but today it is container docks and fishing.

Penshurst Place is a favorite, the home of the Sidney family, and surprisingly the county town of Maidstone was a pleasant walk with a meal at the Yew Tree Inn outside Maidstone. Naturally we travelled to the pretty villages of Smarden and Chilham, the ghost haunted village of Plucley and the beautiful Elham valley.
