As part of a writing group and from the very beginning of writing for whatever reason, i have always liked the short story. I thrilled to the tomes of short stories offered to me when I was a child reading avidly ghost tales, horror, science fiction and many others, Memorable stories were Edgar Poe's Fall of the House of Usher, and The Casting of the Runes, I Martian and Conan Doyle's tales with tales from Ray Bradbury and Somerset Muagham all of which encouraged me to read Kafka and long to write as they did.
I discovered that each writer has their own "voice" and will write how they see things and not copy others although they may be influenced by their predecessors and peers in the same way musicians develop their music and exploit innovations.
