Writing

My journey began with nursery rhymes and like many young people a fascination with song lyrics - I  liked the ballad form as well as pop songs enjoying the  music as much as the words. Later came to appreciate the War Poets, as you do, and at University I was introduced to Ezra Pound, William Carlos Williams, Marianne Moore, Milton, Shakespeare and Andrew Marvell to name a few.

I began writing poetry and short stories in earnest in Auckland during my enforced idleness and studies at Auckland University.  It was there I read poems in public and on Access Radio.

Upon my return to the UK I started writing longer works among them is the epic poem:

The Turval and the Grobble  published in 2005.

And the novel, Jake's Progress, dealing with an alcoholic that is set in the Sittingbourne and Sheerness area.
